Overview
The success of spine surgery cannot be described by radiographic or technical endpoints alone. This project examines pain, disability, neurological function, quality of life, complications, reoperation and return to activity over time.
Objectives
01. Characterise recovery trajectories after common and complex spine procedures.
02. Integrate validated PROMs with clinical and procedural data.
03. Study predictors of meaningful improvement, complications and reoperation.
04. Compare treatment strategies with attention to baseline case mix and patient priorities.
Research direction
The programme is designed to support both disease-specific studies and broader questions of value, durability and the outcomes that patients consider most important.
Collaboration
Project-specific collaboration depends on protocol maturity, governance, ethical approvals and data-sharing arrangements. Centres or investigators interested in aligned research questions are welcome to contact the NORA team.
