About NORA

A lab focused on what happens after the intervention.

NORA Lab — Neurosurgical Outcomes Research & Analytics Lab — is built around a simple idea: neurosurgical care should be evaluated by outcomes that are meaningful, measurable and useful for the next patient.

Clinical and academic environmentNORA Lab brings together neurosurgical outcomes research, clinical expertise and academic collaboration in Southern Switzerland.

Identity

Neurosurgery + outcomes + analytics.

NORA brings together clinicians and collaborators interested in real-world evidence, patient-reported outcomes, multicentre registries and quantitative methods. The lab is designed as a platform for disease-specific projects while maintaining a shared methodological core.

The research programme is rooted in the neurosurgical environment of the Istituto di Neuroscienze Cliniche della Svizzera Italiana (INSI) and Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC), with an academic environment that includes Università della Svizzera italiana (USI).

Principles

How we want to work.

01

Patient-centred outcomes

Technical success matters, but so do function, independence, quality of life and recovery from the patient’s perspective.

02

Multicentre when scale matters

Rare disease and heterogeneous populations require collaboration, shared definitions and adequate sample size.

03

Validation before implementation

Prediction models should be tested beyond the dataset in which they were developed and assessed for clinical utility.

04

Reproducible analytics

Clear variables, transparent methods and careful reporting are essential if research is to be useful beyond a single analysis.
